The Contemporary Kitchen Revival
At GM Design, we don’t just renovate—we redefine spaces. Our latest project turned a closed-off kitchen into a modern, open-concept masterpiece. With thoughtful design and premium materials, this space now blends elegance, functionality, and innovation, making it the heart of the home.
Breaking Barriers: Opening Up the Space
To create a more open and inviting kitchen, we started with a bold move: removing a dividing wall. This structural change transformed the layout, creating a seamless flow between the kitchen and adjoining spaces. In its place, we introduced a show-stopping centerpiece:
A Modern Waterfall Island: The island features MSI Calacatta Izaro countertops with a sleek waterfall design cascading down both sides. This luxurious detail adds visual drama and modern sophistication.
Overhang for Seating: Practicality meets style with an overhang, providing comfortable seating for casual meals, entertaining, or simply gathering around.
This redesign maximized both functionality and style, turning the kitchen into a versatile space for cooking, dining, and socializing.
Cabinetry: A Harmonious Blend of Styles
To achieve the perfect balance of classic and modern aesthetics, we incorporated a mix of premade and semi-custom cabinetry:
White Shaker Cabinets: These bright, timeless cabinets bring a clean, airy feel to the kitchen, making the space feel larger and more inviting.
Nocce 3 Flat Doors: With their warm, contemporary texture, these semi-custom doors add depth and personality.
Stainless Steel Framed Glass Doors: Found in the bar area, these sleek, industrial-style doors create an elegant space for displaying glassware and beverages.
Nocce 3 Panels on the Island Back: These panels tie the design together with a seamless, cohesive look that grounds the island as the centerpiece of the kitchen.
Countertops: Luxury with MSI Calacatta Izaro
Throughout the kitchen and bar, we used MSI Calacatta Izaro countertops, known for their dramatic veining and luxurious finish. These countertops provide a durable, high-quality surface that’s as practical as it is beautiful, perfect for cooking, entertaining, or simply enjoying everyday moments.
Lighting: Setting the Mood
Lighting plays a crucial role in the functionality and ambiance of any kitchen. For this project, we installed LED lights under the wall cabinets, providing soft, functional illumination for tasks and highlighting the beauty of the countertops and cabinetry.
The Bar: A Transformation to Remember
The bar area received special attention, becoming a standout feature of the space:
Stainless Steel Glass Doors: These doors add a sleek, modern touch, perfect for showcasing your finest glassware.
Nocce 3 Cabinetry: The warm tones of the cabinetry balance the industrial elegance of the glass and steel, creating a cozy yet refined atmosphere.
LED Accents: Subtle under-cabinet lighting enhances the bar’s features, making it a perfect spot for entertaining or relaxing.
